Lost Grape began after its creators moved from London to Bordeaux.
What they encountered was unexpected. Every vineyard visit told the same story. Winemakers spoke about falling demand, cellars filling up, and wines with nowhere to go. The headlines confirmed it:
HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF BOTTLES DESTROYED OR REPURPOSED.
THOUSANDS OF HECTARES OF VINES PULLED UP ACROSS FRANCE.
GENERATIONS OF WORK QUIETLY WRITTEN OFF.
When friends and family were asked, few had heard about it. Fewer understood the scale.
Then it hit home in the most literal sense. The neighbour's Chateaux stopped producing wine and the vines were removed. A cellar full of carefully made wine, overlooked not because of quality, but because of a trend.
This is why Lost Grape was created, to bring attention to this crisis and to share wines made over generations with care, skill, and tradition.
